The truck was in Dallas Texas. PO was trying to sell her because of housing issues. It had been listed on ebay 3 times in 2002 without being sold, and I had watched it each time wishing I could bid on her.

It came out one last time in early 2003 with a low reserve price, and I knew I couldn't let it pass. In the end I got it for a great price.

The truck was in great shape when I bought her. No rust, lightly customized, factory 72 2wd Blazer. It was an older restoration, and it had a few issues, but nothing I couldn't take care of.
The truck came with leather front buckets from a 99 Tahoe. The seats had the head rest holes covered, making the seats look more original.

I really liked the look, and started the search for a matching back seat, as well as a good single wall top. The PO had dumped the old top and back seat, and had her set up as a permanently covertible, 2-seat, sunny day roadster.

The carpet was the only part of the truck that was in really bad shape. Originally gray, the carpet had faded to a pukey beige-green color, and it looked bad.

The bed area was plain as well, just a flat open space. The gas filler was a problem too, since it was too short (it had been moved to the floor of the bed, and the original was shaved) it spit up gas each time you used it. It would take about 40 minutes to fill the tank.

After I had set up the purchase of the truck, I called two friends for a serious road trip - Dallas to San Diego.

We caught a plane into DFW and began our trip back to San Diego in a fully convertible 72 2wd Blazer. We left Dallas in a hurry trying to get out before a thunder storm rolled in. Soon enough we were in the open desert.

Here I am at the wheel somewhere in the New Mexico desert. The picture was taken at about 5:00 am. By 8:00 am the hat and jacket were off, and by noon the mercury reached 106 degrees.

That trip was an adventure. Over 1,400 miles, and 24 hours of straight driving time, half of it roasting in the Southwest desert heat.

This is a picture of my friend Rudy taking his turn at the wheel at sunset, somewhere in the Arizona desert.

The engine looked nice, but was way too mellow for me. In fact I think the intake manifold/carb set up was too much for the bottom end making it loose power overall. So much for the bling... This engine has been pulled and will be replaced with something more suitable for the truck, and the owner.
